One of the most striking parts about these traditional dishes lies in the fact that they are well rooted in varied traditional and historical beliefs which make them more significant. Each Indian festival is in fact a celebration of food. While we discuss about cooking, let’s delve into the various aspects of making and preparing delicious Indian dishes.

Indian Food- a tradition

One of the major aspects of Indian foods lies in the fact that, each region has its own set of traditional cuisines which are quite distinct from each other. An analysis of the historical facts related to Indian food widely elaborates the fact that in Vedic times, a normal daily diet consisted of fruit, vegetables, meat, grain, dairy products and honey. But over a span of time, segments of the Brahmin caste embraced vegetarianism, as this was largely facilitated because of the weather conditions where a variety of fruits, vegetables, and grains can easily be grown throughout the year. A food classification system was developed and further categorized as saatvic, raajsic or taamsic developed through combinations of Ayurveda. And each of this food classification was deemed to have a powerful effect upon the body and the mind. However, during the later part of the cultural invasion especially with the coming of Mughals, Special Indian food was created which was in fact a fusion of both the worlds.

When Muslims from Central Asia, Arabia, and Persia, came and settled down they also widely influenced Indian cooking style. From time to time, traders such as the Arabs and Chinese, Mongols, Turks, British and Portuguese also left their indelible affect on Indian food. Thus, with constant changes, Unique Indian food is now the order of the day.
